The video starts with a convoy of Raila Odinga, Moses Wetangula and Kalonzo Musyoka’s vehicles making way towards the IEBC headquarters through Uhuru Highway.
Their supporters are chanting anti-IEBC slogans while idolising CORD leader Raila Odinga. It is about 3:00 PM on Monday, May 23.
A police water canon then comes into view just at the University Way roundabout and the CORD principals instantly recede inside their cars, perhaps having sensed the next move.
Minutes later, police spray the high pressure water at the protesters and the CORD principal’s vehicles are not spared either.
The high pressure water was accompanied by teargas as the protesters run for dear life.
Unlike the last round of anti-IEBC protests, CORD leaders and protesters were completely restrained from accessing the Nairobi City center.
Police instead cordoned off Kibera slums, the main region from where protesters came from, and engaged them from within the slum for over three hours.
The situation was however different in Nyanza region where about three people were killed and about 20 others admitted with gunshot wounds following heavy engagement with anti-riot police.
