The National Cohesion and Integration Commission yesterday urged President Uhuru Kenyatta and Cord leader Raila Odinga to put their interests aside and find a solution to the IEBC stalemate.
NCIC said protests against the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission polarize the country on tribal lines and encourage hooliganism, property destruction and loss of life. Chairman Francis ole Kaparo yesterday said Kenya’s political class should stop hiding behind the constitution to push their agenda for personal gain.
He said they should encourage dialogue to ensure stability. “As an institution established to reconcile Kenyans following the 2007-08 post-election violence, the prevailing situation is at best irresponsible, unfortunate and untenable,” Kaparo said. He said Kenyans are still traumatized by those events.
