Tues day April 21, 2016 – Machakos Senator, Johnstone Muthama, has pleaded with the police to take Kabete MP, Ferdinand Waititu, to hospital because his health is deteriorating by the minute. Waititu fell sick immediately after being detained and incarcerated for two days at Pangani Police Station.
Muthama and Waititu were detained on Tuesday over allegations of hate speech and they appeared in court on Friday to take a plea of their charges and realeased on bond.
But on Thursday morning , Muthama who was in the same cell with Waititu pleaded with senior police officers to take Waititu to hospital since he was seriously sick.
Muthama also complained that the station lacked clean drinking water and said that the toilets were stinking and “dehumanising” to high heavens.
He also asked the station commander to provide them with daily papers since they wanted to know what was going on in the country.
on the same lines, Suna East MP, Junet Mohamed, has revealed that Bahati MP, Kimani Ngunjiri, was forced to diarrhoea as they watched from the floor of their cell after Duale ordered the police to deny them access to facilities including the toilet.
“On the first day, one of our colleagues had a stomach upset. At around 3am he started banging the door to be allowed to use the toilet,” Junet narrated.
“When there was no response, he was forced to squat on the bucket at the corner of the cell.”
“This denial of basic rights and food was meant to ensure we were humiliated to the maximum.”
“Police said they were acting on orders from above including Uhuru.” he added.
However, Duale dismissed Junet’s claims as “garbage” and said:
“That is where Kenyan leadership has sunk to.”
“Am I the IG to direct the police? Has he now realised that I am powerful enough to influence police and the courts?” he posed.
It was not clear whether the Station Commander allowed doctors to treat Waititu, who is diabetic in the end.
Waititu was arrested on Tuesday for calling for the circumcision of members of the Luo community in Nairobi and Nakuru.
others arrested included Moses kuria who called for the assassination of Raila Odinga.
