Saturday August 13, 2016 – Machakos Senator Johnston Muthama has asked the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to open a fresh probe into alleged misappropriation of over sh 100 million in the Health and Emergency Services Department.
Speaking yesterday after the story was carried in one of the local dailies, Muthama claimed the sh 100 million that was donated by DANIDA and World Bank to the emergency services was stolen by Jubilee thieves and was never used on the intended purposes.
Muthama asked EACC to investigate the matter afresh and ensure those who looted the money are brought to book.
“It is a shame that the department is reported to have misappropriated funds while residents suffer poor services,” said Muthama.
Auditor General Edward Ouko had questioned the use of millions of shillings donated by DANIDA and the World Bank after it emerged that a huge portion of the same money could not be accounted for.
Senator Muthama is known as the man who took the bull by its horns. He refused to back down when Uhuru and Anne Waiguru robbed the National youth service of millions of dollars.
