Monday September 12, 2016 – President Uhuru Kenyatta received a major blow on Sunday after five Jubilee leaders dumped his party and joined Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
Speaking in a hotel in Mombasa while welcoming them, ODM party leader, Raila Odinga, said the five leaders have finally seen the light and decided to join the winning team.
The five Kwale County Jubilee Party leaders who joined ODM include MCAs Kasim Pojo (URP, Mwereni), James Dawa (UDF, Puma), Patrick Mangale (Ford Asili, Dzombo), Suleiman Nzalla (UDF, Nominated) and Hamisi khadija (Kadu Asili, Nominated).
“The defections to ODM prove this is the party to beat,” Raila said while receiving the defectors at Sarova White sands Beach Resort said.
The defection of five MCAs is a big blow to the newly formed Jubilee Party since it will now be a tall order for Jubilee to consolidate support for President Uhuru Kenyatta in the coastal region.
