Tuesday October 4, 2016 – Bungoma Senator, Moses Wetangula, has maintained that he will fight for the CORD presidential ticket in 2017 despite opinion polls showing that he is not popular.
Speaking in Narok on Sunday, Wetangula said that opinion polls are fake and expressed confidence of clinching the CORD presidential ticket in 2017.
However, some ODM officials accuse Wetangula of being bankrolled by the Jubilee Party and biding his time before jumping the ship.
“We are aware he is being funded by Jubilee.”
“Wetangula will go it alone like Simeon Nyachae did in 2002,” one ODM official said.
He said Jubilee has already bought a new chopper for Wetangula that has been branded with Ford Kenya colours of green and white.
But according to the Senator’s PA, Mandu Mandu, the new chopper is Wetangula’s but it was not bought by Jubilee men.
“The party and its leader are determined.”
“We want to create some space, move up and down as we appeal for support ahead of the coalition’s nomination for President,” said Mandu.
