Jacob Zuma has been defeated in a watershed motion of no confidence raised by Minister Hanekom. Zuma lost the presidency of the ANC when 51 NEC members voted against him to the 35 that voted in his favor.
Zweli Mkhize has been appointed as the Acting President of the ANC until the consultative conference in June. Cyril Ramaphosa has been appointed State president until the consultative process in June 2017
Paul Mashatile has been elected acting Treasuer General until the consultative conference in June.
The NEC also resolved to charge Jacob Zuma with fraud, corruption and bringing the organization into disrepute. The DC is to be chaired by integrity commission chairman Andrew Mlangeni.
