KTN journalist Joy Doreen Birra has been charged with abetting terrorism.

She was arrested,while giving an eye witness account on the fighting in Kasese, Uganda that has left 55 people dead, including 14 police officers on her social media accounts

The mother of one was arrested alongside her husband, Newton Kungu and four other people, a day after their introduction ceremony.

They were detained at Kasese Police station before being released on Monday afternoon.

Kenyans took to twitter with #FreeJoyDoreen in an effort to put pressure to the Ugandan government to release the journalist.

The four will report to Kasese Police station on December 8, to answer to the said charges.
