Since taking over the Labor Party in September 2016 as the party leader, Budalangi Member of Parliament Ababu Namwamba has made several changes in the party ahead of the 2017 General Election.
He resigned from ODM was he was secretary general and is now popularizing the party that will field aspirants at all levels except the presidency.
ODM is one of his major competitors for elective seats.
Trouble has, however, been brewing in the party after it emerged former journalist, David Makali, who resigned to become Namwamba’s Secretary General, has been fired.
This could be deduced from the Ababu’s Facebook post where he announced that the party held its National Executive Council meeting on Thursday, February 16 at the Olive Gardens hotel in Nairobi.
It was noticeable from the photos and Namwamba’s captions that Makali is no longer part of the team as he (Ababu) named the new acting Secretary General as Peter Ole Musei.
“A number of NEC members are incline to Jubilee, it is only Makali who has been pushing the party to work with the National Super Alliance. He is also accused of being arrogant and a dictator,” said a source as quoted in the Star.
Makali’s exit throws into disarray his plans to unseat Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula as the Bungoma county Senator.
He has been popularizing opposition interests in his Bungoma backyard instead of Labor Party’s.
Other sources said Makali took to the party’s Whatsapp group to complain about the unexpected nonsense in Labour.
