The late Nyeri Governor Nderitu Gachagua was a wealthy man with investments across different sectors.
Gachagua had invested heavily in real estate and had even received Ksh 1 billion from the government as compensation for his 62 apartments brought down to pave way for the Southern Bypass.
According to a report by the Nairobian, on the material day of Gachagua’s death, tenants residing in his properties received letters from his sons instructing them to start depositing rent in a new account.
“Gachagua’s body was not even cold before the sons directed us to pay the rent into their accounts,” a tenant who sought anonymity said.
Gachagua who died of cancer of the pancreas in a London Hospital allegedly had a number of women in his life.
He had two wives known to the public, Margaret Nyokabi the first wife who lives with her four children in London and Margaret Waithiegeni.
The Quantity Surveyor, however, reportedly also had a female nominated MCA Eva Githaiga in his life and two other women.
It is unclear if this could have been the reason for the sons’ rush to dish out letters to their father’s tenants in a bid to block other women from preying on Gachagua’s wealth.
