Senior Wildlife government officer killed in deadly gun fight

Elephant forage at the Tsavo East National Park. A Kenya Wildlife Services officer and four poachers were killed in shootout between poachers and wildlife rangers near the park on March 3, 2017.

A senior KWS officer has been shot dead in a gun fight with poachers at Galana Kulalu near the Tsavo East National park.

Four poachers were killed in the shoot-out while two managed to escape. They took with them, guns belonging to to the felled officer.

According to the Voi police boss, a man hunt is underway to apprehend the poachers who escaped.

The officer was shot dead by poachers at the National park on Friday night

One is said to have escaped with serious gun wounds.

Two pieces of Ivory were recovered as well as Ak47 rifles.
