President Uhuru Kenyatta has made a surprise visit to the Kenyan troops in Somalia on Saturday, March 18.
Uhuru was accompanied with the Chief of Defence Forces Samson Mwathethe during the tour to Dhobley, Somalia, State House has confirmed.
According to State House Spokesman Manoah Esipisu, Uhuru hailed KDF personnel for their commitment in fighting the al-Shabaab terror group in Somali.
The Kenyan forces are part of the AMISOM forces drawn from various African countries and embedded in Somalia to push out the terror group.
Kenya has paid a heavy price after losing hundreds of soldiers during the mission but which has also been largely successful as it has helped pacify large swathes of Somalia.
During the tour, Uhuru was dressed in full military uniform.
