Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma and aspirant Washington Ogaga have been fined heavily for exchanging blows during a public rally.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) fined the leaders KSh 100,000 each for fighting at Homa Bay County stadium. As TUKO.co.ke reported, Kaluma and his rival Ogaga fought in front of ODM leader Raila Odinga during a political rally on November 27, 2016.
ODM Executive Director Oduor Ong’wen said the party is committed to taking disciplinary measures to stop a repeat of the incident. “The party is committed to taking disciplinary measures to prevent anybody from perpetrating violence ahead of the party primaries,” said Ong’wen.
Other party leaders including Governor Cyprian Awiti, Deputy Governor Hamilton Orata, Oyugi Magwanga, Tom Kajwang, Gladys Wanga and other politicians Enosh Bolo and Jack Nduru. Kevin Ouma, ODM youth leader in Homa Bay was barred from contesting or holding any political seat or party office.
The leaders risk automatic disqualification from seeking any office in ODM if they get involved in in any act of disruption or violence.
