Is This Why Mutula Kilonzo Was Murdered? Who killed him & Why?

Before late Justice Minister Mutula Kilonzo passed away, he stepped up pressure on Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto telling them to stop their countrywide campaigns saying they will not be eligible to contest the presidency in the 2013 elections.

Mutula who had been threatened with a censure motion in parliament in what was seen as attempts to cut him down to size said before he was killed that,  he was disappointed when the proponents of the motion eventually dropped their bid. However, he had been threatened with death by unknown forces before he was found dead. He was a great leader and dearly missed.

Mutula, who was also the justice and constitutional affairs minister had dared the wiper democratic party to kick him out, telling Citizen TV’s power breakfast show at the time, that he had been approached by over 20 parties following the planned censure move in parliament. Mutula had insisted that it would be wrong if Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and Eldoret North mp William Ruto were allowed to vie for the presidency while crimes against humanity charges at the ICC hang over their heads.

On or around Jan 25, 2011 late Justice and constitutional affairs minister Mutula Kilonzo described former vice president Kalonzo Musyoka’s shuttle-diplomacy seeking the deferral of Kenya’s post election violence cases from the international criminal court to a local judicial mechanism as a political gimmick, with no legal basis, and one doomed to fail.

Kilonzo maintained that at no point did the cabinet mandate Kalonzo to embark on a series of meetings with African heads of state to seek support for deferral of the cases, asserting that the former vice president who was his party boss in ODM- Kenya was engaged in a futile exercise. In what was yet another sign of rifts within the coalition government, Mutula told Kalonzo to focus his energies on judicial reforms and the establishment of a credible local judicial mechanism to convince the ICC that Kenya is capable of handling the post election violence cases.

In another video by Kumekucha, a better analysis of who might have had a hand in his death is properly analyzed below.

After every general elections in Kenya there are usually mysterious murders of politicians. It has happened after every general election without fail in this East African Nation. Why?

Siaya Senator James Orengo and his Machakos counterpart Johson Muthama leads other Members of Parliament to carry the casket of the late Homa Bay senator Otieno Kajwang from Nairobi Central SDA Church.

To date, investigations into the cause of the sudden death of senators Mutula Kilonzo (Makueni) in 2013, Otieno Kajwang (Homa Bay) that shocked the nation and beyond are yet to be made public.

Begging questions remain unanswered and Kenyans are still curious to know more about the circumstances that led to their death. Mutula died in April 2013, less than a month after he was sworn in as the first senator of Makueni.

He is reported to have slept and failed to wake up at his home bordering Maanzoni Lodge on Mombasa Road.

In March this year, a former personal assistant, Stella Mwendwa, told an inquiry the late Mutula had lost a lot of weight before his death.

“Kilonzo looked beaten health wise,” she said, adding she thought this was the result of vigorous campaigning in the run-up to that year’s March 4 election.

Mutula had served in former President Mwai Kibaki’s Cabinet as the minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs, and then Education minister. He had served as a minister for Nairobi Metropolitan Development.

Kajwang’ died at 11.34pm in November 2014 at Mater Hospital, Nairobi. He had been rushed after he complained of chest pains. If he were alive today, Kenyans would be enjoying his campaign antics.

Kabete MP George Muchai was shot dead in February 2015 on Kenyatta Avenue, Nairobi. The motive of the killing to date is not known.

He was killed alongside his driver and two bodyguards.

The cause of Gatundu South MP Joseph Nyamu’s death is still not clear. He is said to have collapsed and died in his bathroom in May 2014.

REMEMBERING A HERO AND A MAN OF THE PEOPLE

imageThe date is 27/04/2013. A dark cloud hovered over Kenya. Death had stung our territory and disappeared with one of our own, the first Makueni Senator, Mutula Kilonzo Senior, great politician and Senior Counsel.

3 years down the line, many unanswered questions haunt us; Who killed Mutula Kilonzo and what was the motive?  What did he know about International criminal court (ICC) cases in the Hague Netherlands? Did he cross the untouchable? Today we celebrate him for the constitutional reforms he engineered. We celebrate him for helping establish CORD. May he rest in peace. Just type #RIPMutula in his memory and honour.
